As of 4pm Wednesday, nothing more on MSU guard Kalin Lucas' ankle injury.  The team arrived back in Lansing in the wee hours of the morning after Tuesday's 67-49 loss at Wisconsin.  Lucas had classes scheduled-- don't know if he made any or not.  MSU may or may not release information at any time regarding his status.  I spoke with MSU people twice-- they had nothing to add other than an original opinion that he has a high ankle sprain and obviously could miss some time.  MSU plays at Illinois at 9pm Saturday and home next Tuesday at 9pm against Purdue, both top tier teams in the Big Ten.

What effect a Lucas injury would have on the MSU team with him out of the line up I leave to others to predict-- but obviously MSU would seem to be better with him.  It's a team that doesn't have as much depth as in the past-- this year seven players instead of nine get the significant minutes and of course Lucas is at the top of that group.  I'll update if I get more.  Stay tuned.  MSU is now 9-1 in the Big Ten and 19-4 overall and obviously the league title is not yet a lock-- but the four teams with three losses all figure to lose more as well, so MSU could still end up league champ for the second straight year with or without Lucas.

Don't assume Wisconsin will lose very many the rest of the year. They are already done with the home on homes with the other ranked teams and finish out with the bottom half of the conference except Illinois, who is up there now on the strength of beating Penn St twice, Indiana twice, and Iowa and NW at home. They are dangerous but far from proving they are on a par with MSU, OSU and Prudue. Best wishes to Kalin Lucas. As Bo said after the game, he's good for the Big 10.
