He's the best quarterback I've seen around here in a long time and I don't remember when I saw Michigan State with a better player at the position than Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour. He made winning careers for two coaches-- Brian Kelly and Butch Jones. Where would those guys be today without LeFevour? His numbers are staggering and too numerous to even sift through but suffice it to say when he's done in four more games, he will have stats that will be difficult for anyone to duplicate in the future. If I had a Heisman vote I'd cast it for LeFevour in a year when there is no other clear cut choices. Tebow and McCoy likely will be the top two with Mark Ingram the running back from Alabama. But in a year when it makes sense to show some respect for a mid major player, no one has the resume that LeFevour does, even Tebow. And where will all these guys be chosen in the NFL draft next April? LeFevour has many of the attributes the pros want-- big and fast with a strong accurate arm and good sense about him. CMU is 8-2 and LeFevour will get more national publicity next Wednesday when the Chips should beat up on lowly Ball State in Muncie, Indiana. Then comes the big final home game against Northern Illinois, likely the MAC championship game in Ford Field and a bowl game. CMU has recruited some new quarterbacks but LeFevour will be next to impossible to replace. He was brilliant down the stretch against Michigan State. Toledo had no chance against him in Wednesday night's game in Mount Pleasant. It's a shame most of the Heisman electorate across America doesn't know who this kid is and what he's about. ##### |

Tim, thanks for the positive comments on Dan and Central Michigan Posted by: Walt TIM, nice, and well deserved, article about Dan LeFevour! However, it is time for you, and others, to "get off” the MID MAJOR rant! CMU has recently beaten your "loveable“ Spartans 3 times and lost 4 times, all at Spartan Stadium! Would you bet that some of those 4 losses would not have been wins if the games had been played at Kelly/Shorts Stadium? Do you think CMU plays better at Home? Does MSU? CMU is a Division I team, just like MSU! The Media’s (and your) use of the term: Mid Major, is a demeaning to the CMU players and coaches-MANY of them are more talented than the players and coaches, at MSU! |
