At times it's just hard to watch-- turnovers and more and 25 of them cost Michigan State's women's team their first game in the Big Ten tournament Friday in Indianapolis.  MSU squandred a 12 point lead in the first half and lost 56-50.  The Badgers had won earlier in Madison 54-51 and watching the game it simply appeared to me that Wisconsin's players wanted the game more.

The excuse will be that Brittney Thomas, the MSU point guard, has been injured and unavailable, but I don't fully buy that.  Other players are on scholarship and they aren't asked to beat U-Conn.  But they can dribble and pass it with enough cohesion to at least keep it away from defensive players.  I'm not sure all the guilty MSU turnover players worry about their playing time enough when they commit the same mistakes over and over again.

In fact if you watched this game you had to ask yourself-- is this team really the second seed in the tournament?  The Spartans are 16 days away, presumably, from hosting a game in the NCAA tournament at the Breslin Center.  From here until then I believe they need to make a concious effort to protect the ball much more than they have this season.  I'm imipressed their record is 20-10 considering how many times they give the opposition free possessions.

Tim this is just how they have played most of the year.If I coached this team I would have them running more, as they seem to be slow and out of shape. Also I would teach them more blockout skills as they need help there too.
