Tuesday night's win over Ohio State gave Tom Izzo's Spartans 26 consecutive wins in the Breslin Center.  Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal figured the absence of the Izzone cost State ten points.  Notre Dame has the nation's longest homecourt winning streak at the moment with 44 straight wins.  I've got MSU winning at home its final nine Breslin Center appearances beginning this Saturday afternoon against Kansas.  These Jayhawks are missing some key players from their NCAA title team of last April.  So that would give MSU a 35-game homecourt winning streak heading into next season if they win the rest of the Breslin Center dates.  It will take someone very good on a lucky night to beat State in its backyard.

Lansing Eastern High School's boys basketball team is getting better and could be a force by March-- providing the Quakers focus on improvement.  They are now 4-1 after Tuesday's impressive 73-57 win at Sexton, a game in which Eastern led by 22 at 63-41 at one point in the fourth quarter.  Sophomore LaDontae Henton is becoming more known-- he had 34 points and 17 rebounds on his 17th birthday.  Michigan State is among the schools watching him closely.  Eastern might be a tough out in the state tournament if the Quakers keep rolling.  Rico Stewart and Cameron Sanchez are other teammates of Henton's who provide plenty of support.

So much for all those cries in the stands in Orlando last Thursday from Georgia fans of  "One more year"!  They were directed at Bulldogs quarterback Matt Stafford and running back Knowshon Moreno after the Capital One Bowl win over Michigan State.  Both said they were undecided.  It didn't take them long to decide.  Both announced Wednesday they'll enter April's NFL draft.

Final bowl standings for the Mid-American Conference:  0-5.  The Big Ten went 1-6.  That's 11 losses from the midwestern schools among 33 bowl games.  And the MAC had some very good quarterbacks and beat Big Ten teams four times during the regular season.  What does it all mean?  The Michigan schools-- WMU, CMU and MSU-- all lost their bowl games.  And just think all three teams were better than Michigan.  And two of them play Michigan next season.  Western opens in Ann Arbor while the Spartans host the Wolverines October 3rd.  And CMU plays at Michigan State September 12th.  And Michigan is still looking for a fourth non conference foe next season.  Notre Dame and Eastern Michigan are already on Michigan's schedule.
