WHERE DO THE SPARTANS GO FROM HERE?

They just got beat by a better team.  Even my wife asked me and she never does:  "So what did you think of the game?"

Hey, anyone playing North Carolina these days would probably lose.  Michigan State has issues beyond Goran Suton and Delvon Roe but I still think they can win their first Big Ten title since 2001 with what they have.  The key will be Big Ten road wins.  They'll likely play a number of close road games and how many they win will determine where they finish.

By the way, for those who say the North Carolina game should have been played in the Breslin Center-- well it was MSU's year to travel in this Big Ten/ACC Challenge series.  MSU hosted North Carolina State last year.  North Carolina agreed to move the game to Ford Field.  And it looks like they got comfy with the place with the Final Four now four months away.

The Spartans aren't 35 points worse than Carolina, but it doesn't matter at this point because they wouldn't see the Tar Heels again until the NCAA tournament anyway.  Who knows what the basketball world will look like then.

MSU just needs to keep working, keep practicing, stick to the mission and take what the schedule gives.  This team should win the next three home games handily and be 7-2 heading into a December 20 game in Houston against Texas.  That team is good, but a team MSU might be able to beat.  A tougher test might be the Dec. 31st Big Ten opener at Minnesota, a team that looks improved and should give everyone a test who plays this season at Williams Arena.
