TUESDAY ODDS AND ENDS

The Detroit Lions will not be blacked out of their game Thursday against the Tennessee Titans-- whoopee!  The game is a sellout and probably the last one this season.  Drew Stanton is definitely out with a concussion so Daunte Culpepper will start at quarterback and former Michigan star Drew Henson is the back up.  Don't ask me who is third string-- maybe they don't have another guy.  It's looney that Jon Kitna is on injured reserve because he has claimed for most of the season he is healthy enough to play but on injured reserve he is automatically done for the year.  Tennessee is an 11 1/2 point favorite.

Congratulations Holt High School senior Kelsie Schooley.  The two time state 50 freestyle champ has signed a letter of intent to swim next year at Michigan State.

Final in NCAA soccer-- Illinois Chicago over Michigan State 3-2 in a shootout after no goals were scored in regulation nor overtime.  It's the final game for MSU head coach Joe Baum who retires after 32 years-- but will be an assistant next season.

Don't hope for an MSU bowl appointment until Sunday night December 7th.  Too much to sort out.  But look at it this way-- if Oregon State wins at home this Saturday over Oregon, then Michigan State will either be in Tampa  New Year's Day or San Antonio on Dec. 29th.  If Oregon wins, then MSU will be either in Orlando or Tampa New Year's Day.

Goran Suton has a knee injury.  His status is iffy for MSU's Old Spice Classic Tournament run in Orlando which begins Thursday night at 7 o'clock against Maryland.  Suton injured the knee in the IPFW game and also struggled with it in practice.
