TIGERS UPDATES WITH ALL STAR BREAK ABOUT OVER

The Tigers, as expected, reactivated Magglio Ordonez from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and they sure missed him-- the Tigers went 6-7 with him out of the lineup.  Clete Thomas was returned to Toledo to make room on the roster.  The Tigers open a four game series in Baltimore Thursday night.

Jim Leyland is among 50 baseball people at the White House Wednesday night.  He was invited to have dinner with President Bush and all Leyland said was he heard they were being served a five course meal.  Leyland is fresh from serving as a bench coach at the All Star game and why his presence was required is beyond me.  Wouldn't those guys not playing prefer to have the three days off to recharge their batteries?

It's now official.  The Red Wings will face the Chicago Black Hawks in Winter Classic 2 on New Year's Day in Wrigley Field.  Last New Year's Buffalo hosted Pittsburgh in the Bills' stadium and drew 71,000 fans.  The Red Wings also say they'll raise their 11th Stanley Cup championship banner on opening night October 9th against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With a two over par 74 Wednesday, St. Joseph's Connie Ross won the 15th annual Michigan Open golf championship in Thompsonville.  She won by a shot over Jackson's Elaine Crosby, the former LPGA touring pro.  Ross entered the tournament on the final day of the deadline and won $5,700 of the $40,000 purse.
