LET THE GREEN AND WHITE TIMES ROLL

It's a busy MSU sports week end and March is the busiest time of year for us-- by far.  With all the high school tournaments and now with the girls thrown in too, then add MSU sports and many Spartan teams tend to regularly make NCAA tournaments.  All of it has to get covered and it's never easy to find room.

If it ever stops snowing as this is written, MSU will try to open the Big Ten baseball season at 3pm Friday at Oldsmobile Park against Illinois.  The teams are to meet four times during the week end.  The women's basketball team has a Thursday night game against Kansas in the WNIT to get the big week end under way.  An MSU win there could send the Spartans against Michigan next week.

MSU fans may need a sports bar to watch both hockey and basketball in the NCAA tournaments since they both play at the same time-- 10pm on Friday.  So which team has the best chance to advance?  Frankly I'd say it's the women, just because they're playing at home against average teams in their tournament.

John Calipari of Memphis is milking his team's apparent lack of respect.  He told the media in Houston Thursday his team isn't supposed to win "any of these games" so therefore he doesn't think his team is under pressure and therefore can just go out and have fun and play.  Calipari isn't the village idiot-- he knows the more his team gets slammed the more chance his players will have to rise up and put down Michigan State and either Texas or Stanford, should Memphis win on Friday.  Let's face it, Memphis is after all a five point favorite.  The upset winner would be Michigan State not Memphis, but Calipari is trying to find every psychological ploy he can find at this point and he has a good one at his advantage at the moment.
