East Lansing High School's basketball team found out the hard way Friday why Tom Izzo recruited Saginaw's Draymond Green.  The 6-7 230-pound multi task star dominated East Lansing in a class A semifinal 69-49 victory.  It was a 30-point game at one time and the margin could have been larger.  Green is good-- simple as that.  He is a terrific passer and he can get up and down the floor.  He has a touch around the basket-- he scored 30 points to go with 16 rebounds, 4 assists and two blocks.  He is a good student and clearly a good prospect.  The Spartans should have some options in how to use the guy.  Frankenmuth's Brad Redford must be pretty good-- he won the Mr. Basketball honor this past week away from Green and Green is truly the real deal.

East Lansing was simply not good enough to beat Saginaw and that was expected from the start.  Many other teams would get clobbered by Saginaw.  East Lansing had a terrific season on balance when you consider the Trojans finished fourth in the CAAC Blue standings.  East Lansing finished 6-1 in the tournament and Charlie Woods finished his high school career with 16 points.

The Saginaw/East Lansing game is good evidence why the four class system is the best for Michigan high schools in basketball.  Saginaw would absolutely kill a number of the smaller schools, even the very best.  They'd have no chance.  As it is I can't imagine Saginaw losing the state championship game which the Trojans likely will win for the second straight year.  Green isn't the only good player-- Saginaw plays tenacious defense with lightning quick guards who are good at both ends of the floor.
