NBA RULES THAT MIGHT MAKE COLLEGE BASKETBALL A BETTER GAME

You tell me-- would college basketball be a better game with two rule changes-- players get six fouls instead of five and when time outs are called, the following inbounds play is from half court and not the full court.  Both to me would improve the college game.  Players get two fouls now in the first half, which is easy to do and they could be out until the second half.  Why should a team's best players be sidelined because of a shaky official's subjective call?  And more excitement would be generated by a team that could operate a last second play from mid court instead of a near full court heave.

East Lansing High School still hopes to add artificial turf to its football stadium before this coming fall.  The first game likely would pit the JVs from Haslett against East Lansing, since the varsity teams play at Haslett this fall.  The cost is about $800,000 and every school is being told in the area that as soon as one school adds field turf, others will fall into line.  Okemos is considering artificial turf as well.  East Lansing is adding lacrosse as a varsity sport and field turf would provide a home venue in the football stadium.

No word yet on a college for East Lansing running back Issac Harper, arguably the area's best player from this past fall.  Junior college could be an option but not the desired one at this point.  Grand Valley State might be an option as well.

The Big Ten men's basketball play gets criticized this season, but what about the women?  Not one Big Ten women's team stands out from the rest and no one has a glittering over all record.  Iowa is currently in first place, but the leader changes every week, or so it seems.  How many will get into the NCAA tournament is a curiosity at this point and who in the world is the Big Ten player of the year yet alone coach of the year?  All issues with the season heading down the home stretch with a couple of weeks remaining before the league tournament.
