Former Michigan State quarterback Drew Stanton was in the WILX studios on Tuesday afternoon shooting some promos for a charity with News Ten's David Andrews. He looks good and he looks fully recovered from the knee injury that sidelined him for the entire season last August. It's hard to tell how Stanton fits into the Detroit Lions plans for next season. Jon Kitna has all of the experience, but how fast will Stanton get a chance and for that matter can he stay injury free? He wants to play in Detroit and says he is just doing what he is told to do.
Football recruit signing day is next Wednesday. No word on any recent verbals for either MSU or Michigan. Both have scholarships to give yet. The big name of course is quarterback Terrelle Pryor and will it be Michigan or Ohio State for him? And the big names for Michigan State are Nick Perry and Mark Ingram, although the latter looks like a better bet to wear green and white than does Perry. MSU h as not announced its plans for signing day relative to comments from coach Mark Dantonio. And there is no word yet on whether the public will be involved in any way or not.
I see Rich Rodriguez tried to his an 0-2 fastball for a home run against West Virginia Tuesday and ended up striking out. In a Clarksburg, West Virginia U-S District Court, his lawyers filed papers asking West Virginia University to settle his buyout for $1.5 million. The school immediately said "no deal." WVU wants the full $4 million and this one clearly will go all the way through the legal system. If the full $4 million is owed, who pays it? And will Michigan help Rodriguez out in any way? Stay tuned because this one gets nastier and nastier.
