Who would be the football coach at Michigan if West Virginia quarterback Pat White did not get hurt in the Pittsburgh game on November 24th?  Seriously?  If White played the entire game, West Virginia likely would have won and played in the national championship game against Ohio State.  Michigan may well have turned elsewhere-- like back to LSU's Les Miles, since the Tigers would have played a New Year's Day game instead.  The injury to White changed the careers of a number of coaches.  White is plenty good-- just ask Oklahoma after the Sooners were torched Wednesday night in the Fiesta Bowl 48-28.

And West Virginia's win likely means Central Michigan did not have to go look for a third head coach in three years.  Butch Jones stays at CMU and the school gives him a two year extension so now his deal runs through 2012.  It is a contract loaded with incentives because CMU can only provide a $265,000 base salary.

And what about Lloyd Carr's assistant coaches?  Might some of them stay in Ann Arbor now that West Virginia has promoted Bill Stewart to head coach?  After all, Rich Rodriguez' assistants at West Virginia might stay in Morgantown since one of their own is the coach.  And that means Rodriguez might have to go back to some Lloyd Carr guys to fill out his staff.  So many fates are affected by the slightest play or injury in these games.

January 15th is the deadline for college underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft.  It seems like they should have more time than that, but MSU's Devin Thomas therefore has less than two weeks to decide whether or not he will return for his senior year or report to the NFL after a team picks him in the April draft.

What if... Tim Staudt on the 6:00pm news, talked about more than just LANSING area sports, because he seems to forget that NEWS 10 was located in Jackson. Also there are other sports teams in MICHIGAN, outside of LANSING!!! Here it is on a roll just does not get it.
