It must be tough on families of big time division one college football assistant coaches.  A nomad's life for many of them.  And it screws up a lot of the bowl games when coaches are moving during bowl season.  West Virginia is in disarray heading into the Fiesta Bowl game against Oklahoma.  What if Rich Rodriguez takes most if not all of his staff to Michigan?  Who coaches the West Virginia team in the bowl game?  And what about the Michigan staff?  Do these guys have their mind on preparing for Florida in the Capital One bowl or are they worried about where their next job will be.  Many believe Rodriguez will not keep many, if any, of Lloyd Carr's guys.  Rodriguez was in Ann Arbor on Wednesday addressing the staff issue.

At least the Michigan assistants are contracted through the end of next year.  So even if they don't land employment elsewhere, or don't stay on in Ann Arbor, they have paychecks for another year.  And how about Florida State?  The Music City Bowl game against Kentucky is all messed up because some 20 Florida State players will be sidelined for cheating on course work.  If any other coach besides Bobby Bowden was involved he might lose his job.

Spotted at the Grand Ledge High School boys' basketball game Tuesday-- Tom Izzo.  The MSU coach was looking at John Horford, Al's little brother who plays for the Comets.  By the way for those who thought Al's foul against T. J. Ford of the Toronto Raptors in last week's Atlanta Hawks game was dirty, most don't know that Horford visited Ford the next day in an Atlanta hospital.  Horford ended up getting suspended for one game which was in Detroit.  That cost a number of local Grand Ledge area fans going to the Palace to watch the Hawks rookie play.  Horford may learn quicker than other NBA rookies because the Atlanta team is weak and Horford fits right in with plenty of playing time.
