Michigan is going to Orlando for its bowl game-- now the question is will the Wolverines play on December 28th in the Champp's Sports Bowl or New Year's Day in the Capital One Bowl against possibly Florida. The scenario was set Friday when Penn State accepted an Alamo Bowl bid in San Antonio, Texas. Two Big Ten bowls are now set with Wisconsin playing in the Outback Bowl New Year's Day. If Illinois ends up in the BCS, which will be known during Sunday's 8pm pairings show on Fox, then Michigan plays New Year's Day. Otherwise the Wolverines would be the Champp's choice over Michigan State, Indiana and Purdue.
I'm told Michigan State is going to the Motor City Bowl if not Orlando. I think the MSU people all believe that Indiana will end up in the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona if it's down to MSU or Indiana for that New Year's Eve game. If Central Michigan wins over Miami of Ohio in tomorrow's MAC championship game, the Motor City Bowl might extend the Chips a bid for the second year in a row later in the day. CMU is currently 7-5 and a 3 point favorite. I think CMU is lock to win Saturday and return to Ford Field on December 26th.
A CMU vs. MSU match up would sell out in a matter of a few days and in the 11-year history of the Motor City Bowl there has never been a sell out. The Spartans still have their hopes on Orlando-- they are rooting for Oklahoma to knock off Missouri in the Big 12 championship game Saturday night. It is possible MSU and Michigan will both be in Orlando playing in the same stadium four days apart.
