Okay college football season is here and if you live in these parts and like sports you probably love college football.  I stayed up as late as I could Thursday watching Southern Cal at Hawaii-- I didn't finish but I knew Southern Cal still looked like a pretty good team.  Other musings:

I like Indiana's new uniforms.  The Hoosiers scored 51 points, but it was against Towson State.  Hard to tell about Indiana's quality.  Minnesota won at Middle Tennessee State, a decent win considering it was on the road against a team that really isn't all that bad.   Marshall fumbled the opening kickoff at Ohio State.  Not part of the game plan.

I still think Michigan is better than what people believe and will beat Connecticut handily-- seriously.  Michigan State rolls over Western, mostly because Western isn't very good, simple as that.

Notre Dame beats Purdue, although Purdue will improve through the season.  I have no idea what to expect from the Irish except the defense sure better be improved from the Charlie Weis days.

The Detroit Lions can have a winning season.  They open at Chicago September 12th and I think they'll win that game.  Injuries will hurt significantly but with all of their hands, they are not the dismal team we've seen in years past.  Play ball.
