The 5k Is The New Golf Outing

It seems to me that there are more 5k races and the such around this summer. Not that there's a dearth of golf outings (just ask my golf-crazy husband) but it does make sense for some charities to try to raise money with 5ks instead of a day out on the links. It's shorter for one thing, and I'd imagine there are fewer elements to try to coordinate.

I'm also something awful with a golf club in my hands. I'm much happier running, that's for sure.

Anyway, the Race For The House 5k is coming up this Saturday -- and Jason Colthorp and I will be out there to help the Ronald McDonald House raise some funds. The Ronald McDonald House is where families stay when kids are sick in the hospital. It's 9am this Saturday, Jun 21 at the Delta Dental Complex in Okemos. Check out www.lovethehouse.org to register.

To be clear, I don't think Jason's planning on *running* Run For The House -- just being there announcing and lending his support. I'll be trying to run this, after what's turning out to be a terrible three weeks of barely running at all. We'll see how that goes, heh.

Then, Saturday June 28, Jason and I will race each other at Max's Race. This 5k raises money for Cure Kids Cancer and is a part of the Playmakers Race Series.  Go to www.playmakers.com .

I may be a regular runner, but c'mon, Jason is, well, a guy and guys tend to have a biological advantage. Right? You tell me who's going to beat who at Max's Race.
