MINNEAPOLIS -- Federal prosecutors have charged a Michigan man as part of what they say was a scheme to use Molotov cocktails to attack the main arena for the Republican National Convention.

The U.S. U.S. Attorney's office in Minneapolis says 23-year-old Matthew DePalma of Flint was charged Saturday with possessing unregistered firearms.

Authorities say DePalma attended an event in Waldo, Wis., in July called the CrimeThinc Convergence, and told an FBI source he wanted to attack the convention.

An FBI affidavit says DePalma talked about making Molotov cocktails, got the supplies and assembled five.

The affidavit says DePalma talked of attacking Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Associated Press left a message for DePalma's public defender.

I agree with you Pam, The media needs to stop their focus on the NUT CASES and their Ignorant Protests. Stop filming them stop giving them camera time. Half of those young protestors dont even know the name of 1/2 the people they are protesting about. Let alone do they know why they are protesting. It is just an attention getting tyrant. And if truth be known 1/2 those protestors have never even VOTED. They are out there protesting against VIOLENCE and The War, Yet they are as violent as the Crazy's out in Iraq who attack people on the street. They are nothing but thugs, who dont know what they are all about.

Why does the press give coverage to the protesters? A small blurp that there was some protesters and not include their reason. They are doing the protesting for the news coverage.

GET this Nut Job off the streets! There is no place in society for this! The guy should have listened to the speeches instead of being IGNORANT! We are all AMERICANS! This guy has so much energy he should be in Iraq, helping get rid of the ENEMY Terrorists who want to kill Americans. This person has probably NEVER VOTED at all, yet he has so much to say! Gotta love those protesting about the WAR, YET they BECOME VIOLENT ! which goes to show IGNORANCE as they have no idea on how to express themselves peacefully
