Senator Barack Obama has traveled to the Democratic National Convention arena, making an unscheduled and unscripted appearance to join the party in celebrating his historic presidential nomination.
Obama joined his newly nominated vice presidential running mate Joe Biden on the platform and they hugged and applauded.
Obama told cheering delegates that he wants people to understand why he is proud to have "the whole Biden family on this journey with me to take America back."
He also drew loud roars when he said he thinks the convention has "gone pretty well so far."
The presidential nominee also praised Senator Hillary Clinton, saying she had "rocked the house." And credited former President Clinton for putting people first.
