Organizers say they expect to have enough signatures to get a proposal on the Michigan ballot to cut the number of state lawmakers and appellate judges.
The proposal also would cut pay for legislators, judges, the governor and other elected officials; set up a different way to draw legislative districts; and cap the number of state departments.
The changes would affect several parts of the state constitution.
A spokeswoman for Reform Michigan Government Now said yesterday the group expects to turn in more than 380,000 valid voter signatures next Monday, the deadline to qualify for the November election.
Michigan Republicans say the proposal is an attempt by Democrats to control the courts by tossing out Republican judges.

Instead go to a single amendment to the State Constitution, i.e. a part time legislature that we had in the past!

Who knows what party is truely for any more. After elected, they change their minds, have memory loss or find other things more important than they thought.Money temptations arise, and who can do what for whom.State to state, county to county things differ.all over the world so many differnt governments and religous beliefs.Kaws differ and many have there own this or that.No one thinks alike.Money takes care of money and the poorer ones get lost in red tape and are shoved aside. Now the world is in the oil boom.Good for some very bad for others.Change constitutions?Well what this country was based on or many states were changed along time ago,not in writing but by mans doings. Now they want to make things legal? Now they want to stop somes jobs or pay scales?Doing away with some may hurt more than help. This will not stop taxes from being raised.Infact more may be needed.Less taxes by the better off ones?Puts more on the little guy.Be careful what we ask for.

Be very careful about supporting any proposal that includes redistricting, especially one that favors Detroit even more than the current rules.
